LOS ANGELES, CA – Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, one of the largest, most successful nonprofit public school networks in the nation, is partnering with Marshall Teacher Residency and USC to offer two incredible residency programs for aspiring teachers. First, in partnership with Marshall Teacher Residency, Alliance is able to invite applicants to an incredible program that includes a $52,500 combined scholarship package for 14 Alliance Teacher Residents. This program will create a pathway for single-subject and special education instruction, leveraging Marshall’s data-driven, whole-child education approach through an anti-racist educator lens and mirroring Alliance’s commitment to equitable learning for Black and Brown scholars. Teacher residents can do their coursework remotely and spend four days a week at an Alliance school, working directly with students at one of Alliance’s 26 middle and high schools.
Additionally, in the 2025-26 school year, Alliance will partner with the USC School of Rossier Residency Program to provide more than $50,000 in USC tuition scholarships for five Alliance educators with an additional $20,000 scholarship to cover living expenses for one year. Having a prestigious school such as USC on their resume can be useful for those looking to start a career making a difference in education.
Through both residency programs, participants will sharpen their skills through hands-on teaching, lesson planning, and substituting in classes under the guidance of a mentor teacher, leaving the program having met the Basic Skills requirement and Subject Matter Competency. Once completed, teacher residents will have earned a Preliminary Credential and be eligible for a full-time teaching position at Alliance, where they will receive the most competitive pay in Los Angeles, with a competitive starting salary of $70,000. Alliance as a whole has a very high teacher retention, with 88% returning last year, and this is in part due to the professional development they provide, as well as coaching, growth opportunities, and a benefits package that surpasses industry standards and is in the top 10% of plans offered by similar K-12 organizations.
Alliance is so well known as a best-place-to-work, that many return to the schools that provided them with so much in their academic careers. “There’s no greater example of our mission and the community we’ve built that alumni come back full circle,” says Ani Meymarian, Director, Partnerships & Pipeline Programs with Alliance College-Ready Public Schools.
As such, Alliance is excited to lead qualified, diverse candidates toward making Alliance their forever home—a place where they can evolve, lead, and inspire future generations. It’s just one part of how this charter network is building thriving communities by creating pathways for scholars and local residents by providing jobs in the community and allowing alumni to come back, teach, and make an impact in their communities. 95% of their scholars graduate from high school, and of those graduates, 96% are accepted into colleges. In addition, Alliance tracks its students to and through college, and their students graduate college 3.5x the national average. This is thanks to the love, care, and rigor of an Alliance College-Ready education, and to make all this happen, they need well-trained, passionate teachers.
Alliance is now accepting applications for their 2025-26 Teacher Residency Program. Applicants are encouraged to apply immediately, as the final application deadline is March 7, 2025.
