Alliance High Schools Climb in U.S. News National Rankings, With Half Now in Top 5%

Every Alliance high school ranks in the nation’s top 18%, improving from the top 25% last year; Tajima and Stern MASS place in the top 1%.

LOS ANGELES — August 18, 2026 — Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, located in Los Angeles, strengthened its national standing in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings — released today — with half of its high schools now ranking in the nation’s top 5% and every Alliance high school placing in the top 18% nationwide.

The results represent a sharp year-over-year gain. Eight of Alliance’s 16 high schools landed in the top 5%, up from six last year, while the network as a whole improved from having all its high schools in the top 25% to all placing in the top 18%. Alliance Ted K. Tajima High School and Alliance Marc & Eva Stern Math and Science High School broke into the top 1% nationally.

The breadth of the gains is significant, with strong results extending across Alliance’s high schools rather than being concentrated at only a handful of campuses.

Alliance CEO Pablo Cesar Villavicencio said the results reflect the work of scholars and families, as well as the educators and school leaders supporting them.

“I could not be more proud of our scholars and the tenacity of their families, who sacrifice daily to ensure that their children have the support they need to thrive academically. This achievement also reflects the dedication of our educators and school leaders,” Villavicencio said. “Every step we take towards moving our scholars forward means they are better prepared to shape their own future and the futures of those they love.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings include data on more than 27,000 public high schools in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In addition to traditional public high schools, the rankings include charter schools as well as schools focused on science, technology, engineering and math.
