Alliance College-Ready Public Schools Applauds Assemblymember José Luis Solache Jr. for Authoring and Collaborating on HR 124 in Support of DACA Recipients

In collaboration with Assemblymember Solache, Alliance supported the development of the resolution, which affirms California’s commitment to DACA recipients facing renewed uncertainty under the Trump administration.

LOS ANGELES, June 24,2026 — Alliance College-Ready Public Schools (Alliance) today applauds the introduction of  HR 124, a California Assembly resolution authored by Assemblymember José Luis Solache Jr. (District 62) and developed in partnership with Alliance and community advocates to support Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients facing renewed uncertainty under the Trump administration, including delays in standard work authorization renewals.

Recognizing the growing impact of federal immigration actions on students, families, educators, and communities, the resolution calls attention to the urgent need for timely processing of DACA renewals, work authorizations, and employment visas to ensure California’s schools, communities, and the economy continue to benefit from the contributions of Dreamers and other important immigrant professionals.

California is home to the largest share of DACA recipients – approximately 28% of the national DACA population – making the stakes especially urgent for communities across the state. HR 124 comes as immigration advocates and federal lawmakers raise alarms that the Trump administration is effectively weakening DACA through prolonged renewal delays, administrative barriers, and policies that leave recipients vulnerable to losing work authorization and stability.

“Alliance serves communities that are deeply impacted by immigration policies, and we saw a need to elevate the challenges Dreamers are facing today,” said Pablo Villavicencio, CEO of Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. “DACA recipients are our scholars, alumni, educators, colleagues, family members, and neighbors. They are part of the fabric of our schools and communities, and they deserve stability, dignity, and the ability to build their futures without fear. We are grateful to Assemblymember Solache for his partnership and leadership in authoring HR 124 and for standing with DACA recipients.”

“As the son of immigrants, I understand how important stability and opportunity are for families working to build a better future,” said Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache Jr. “HR 124 recognizes the vital contribution of DACA recipients and calls attention to the need for policies that allow Dreamers to continue living, learning, and working in the communities they call home. I appreciate Alliance and the many advocates who help bring attention to this issue.”

For Alliance, this issue is both educational and personal. Alliance schools serve over 12,000 scholars, 94% of whom identify as Latine. Across its schools and alumni network are scholars, graduates, educators, staff members, and families whose lives have been shaped by immigration policy and whose futures are affected by uncertainty surrounding DACA.

Alliance’s advocacy on HR 124 reflects its broader commitment to ensuring every scholar and family is valued, respected, and able to contribute to a vibrant and healthy community, free from fear and discrimination. Supporting DACA recipients is not separate from Alliance’s educational mission – it is central to creating schools and communities rooted in belonging, opportunity, justice, and college-ready futures.

Alliance College-Ready Public Schools thanks Assemblymember Solache, community advocates, and coalition partners for their collaboration and urges state and federal leaders to continue advancing policies that protect DACA recipients, support immigrant families, and create a permanent pathway to citizenship for Dreamers.
