The California Alliance for Student Parent Success has launched an online tool to make selecting a college and navigating it as a student parent easier.
Although student parents make up 1 in 8 students enrolled in higher education, most institutions aren’t designed to meet their needs, according to a press release from the California Alliance for Student Parent Success.
The Student Parent Resource Hub centralizes information about childcare, rental assistance, financial aid, basic needs assistance and family-friendly spaces in one place. It also profiles individual campuses, compares them and provides information about the services campuses are legally required to provide.
The site could also help leaders in higher education to see where support exists and gaps remain, according to the alliance.
