About The Program
Alliance Scholars have asked for exposure and access to more career and leadership opportunities beyond what is immediately available to them at their school and in local neighborhoods. In response, the Alliance Foundation in collaboration with Alliance College-Ready Public Schools has launched a paid internship program that provides Alliance Scholars exposure to prominent Los Angeles area companies. 20 Scholars, ranging from rising high school sophomores to rising college first-years, received unique professional development training from UCLA Riordan Programs and the Alliance Career and Internship Programs Team in preparation for interning with Glenair, a valued partner whose collaboration with Alliance has played a pivotal role in making this program a reality. Scholars were also paired up with a Professional Mentor to navigate and thrive in this experience.
Program Highlights
In partnership with UCLA Riordan Programs, Glenair, and the Career and Internship Programs Team at Alliance, we provided 128 hours of transformative professional development to Scholars from Alliance College-Ready Public Schools. This initiative equipped them with vital skills and insights for their professional journey.
Throughout two inspiring weeks at Glenair and visits to prominent companies like AEG, Bank of America, and Lionsgate, our Scholars explored diverse industries and sectors, enriching their perspectives. In addition, our scholars learned about higher education options and resources through visits to UCLA, USC, and Otis College.
The culmination of the program was marked by the Capstone Poster Session, where students presented their internship experiences to the community.
We also had 7 interns speak on how the program helped them grow and prepare for their future endeavors through career exploration, cohort bonding, mentorship, and building confidenceThe growth of our Scholars has been remarkable. Beyond their comfort zones, they flourished and evolved, and their testimonials echo the profound impact of the program. We celebrate the achievements of 20 exceptional scholars from 9 high schools who participated in this career exploration program. Their dedication and network expansion set a promising course for their future.
