The Alliance Marine - Innovation & Technology 6-12 Complex, which includes Valera Middle Academy and Marine High School, is a school serving grades 6 - 12. We are a small, personalized learning environment that seeks to achieve our mission. We are ALWAYS READY. We are innovative thinkers and doers, challenge seekers, and lifelong learners. We relentlessly strive to improve themselves while respecting and caring for others. We graduate from our school equipped with the knowledge, skills, and habits of mind needed to succeed in college, compete in a technology-rich global economy, and make a positive impact on the world.
We have strong parent and community engagement through our parent center, which includes a variety of events, activities, parent workshops, resource fairs, etc. Incredible investment through community partnerships and donors.

Alliance Principal
Erik Carlstone has worked in education for 20 years ever since he volunteered in schools and tutoring programs while a student at UCLA. He joined Alliance as an assistant principal before becoming a principal at Alliance MIT Valera Middle Academy. Mr. Carlstone continues to focus on creating growth for ALL scholars.
Prior to joining Alliance Mr. Carlstone taught high school English for 8 years, later coordinated the reading intervention programs for Green Dot Public Schools before becoming an assistant principal with the Partnerships to Uplift Communities CMO.
When he’s not on campus, Mr. Carlstone loves spending time with his family, coaching his daughter’s soccer team, and going on food adventures. Volemos Valera!
