About the Program

At Alliance, we believe in shaping educators who will not only transform classrooms but also leave a lasting impact on their scholars and communities. As an Alliance Teacher Resident, you’ll embark on a transformative journey that paves the way to becoming an exceptional educator. Our innovative program blends a yearlong, hands-on apprenticeship combined with mission-aligned credential coursework. You’ll spend four days a week at an Alliance school, gaining real-world experience working with scholars, while dedicating one full day a week to credential coursework.

We offer credentials in mathematics, English Language Arts, social science, science, Spanish, and Special Education. Upon successfully completing the program, you’ll earn a Preliminary Credential and be eligible for a full-time teaching position at Alliance.

At Alliance, we aren’t just building careers-we’re building a community. With a competitive starting salary of $70,000, along with professional development, coaching, and growth oppor- tunities, we invite you to make Alliance your forever home-a place where you can evolve, lead, and inspire future generations.

Benefits of the Program

Alliance Cares About You

We are proud to offer benefits that surpass industry standards and rank in the top 10% of plans offered by K-12 organizations across the west coast region. Our goal is to provide Alliance Staff and their loved ones with a great benefits experience, focused on supporting physical, finan- cial, and emotional wellbeing — so we can deliver an exceptional educational experience for our scholars, together.

Compensation

We've kept Alliance a pay leader in L.A. since 2020 (and we're not slowing down).

In March 2025, we introduced Teacher Longevity Retention Pay, helping teachers grow their salaries faster and stay in the classroom — a big move during a time when schools across the state are struggling with teacher shortages.

We also reward staff who help bring in new talent with referral bonuses of up to $1,000.

Since 2022, every staff group has seen pay increases, and starting in 2023, we became the first network to move toward a living wage for our classified staff. And coming October 2025, eligible staff will have access to a brand-new attendance bonus.

Retirement

We've got your back long-term.

When it comes to your future, we’re thinking long-term. Unlike many charter networks, we offer both STRS and PERS retirement systems to make sure your years of service are recognized. We’ve also added a new feature that lets school staff bank unused sick time toward their retirement eligibility — giving you one more way to build security for the future.

Employee Engagement

We celebrate and connect as OneAlliance.

We want working at Alliance to feel meaningful and fun. That’s why we launched the Core Value Awards to honor staff who embody our values of growing together, pursuing excellence, and advancing equity.

This April, we hosted our second annual Spring Fling at Dodger Stadium — a chance for our team across OneAlliance to come together and celebrate the year. We’ve also refreshed our Teacher of the Year process to bring more voices into the nomination and selection.

Personal Development

We're all about helping you grow.

We invest in your growth because we know how important it is to support your career journey. Alliance offers a variety of leadership development programs, including the Emerging Leader Cadre, the Aspiring Principal Program, and the Principal in Residence track.

In 2023, we launched our Teacher Residency Program, offering a $52,500 scholarship for classified staff and alumni looking to become teachers. And in 2024, we announced $2,000 scholarships for classified staff pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

Health and Wellness

Top-tier benefits to support your health (and your family's) at zero cost.

Since 2022, we’ve provided top-tier plans through Kaiser and Anthem that put us in the top 10% of similar employers.

In 2023, we expanded our mental health offerings to include 11 visits through our Employee Assistance Program, added fertility benefits through Anthem, and launched discounted gym memberships through Active Fit.

Starting in January 2026, staff will receive 8 weeks of paid parental leave and access to parent coaching, and we’ve recently rolled out new child and dependent care support through Upwards – all based on staff input.

Meet our Residency Partner

We have partnered with Marshall Teacher Residency who has a values-based approach to teaching and learning. Our partner’s core beliefs of student-centered instruction, data-driven instruction, whole child education, and anti-racist education mirror our Alliance mission and vision.

The application period for our Teacher Residency Program officially closed as of March 14. We appreciate all who applied and look forward to welcoming our next cohort of aspiring educators. If you’re interested in joining us in the future, check back in Fall 2025 when applications reopen for the 2026-2027 school year!

Our next application window opens in November 2025. Check back in the fall to learn more about upcoming informational sessions.
