Alliance Environmental Science High School (Alliance Leichtman-Levine ESAT) is an inclusive school, where each scholar is prepared to be successful in college through access to a college-ready curriculum. We take pride in maintaining small class sizes and have a student to teacher ratio of 17:1, so that our students can receive the support they need to be successful in school.

  • We are involved in our community! From attending the Youth Climate Strike in Downtown LA to participating in local clean-up efforts with the Glassell Park Improvement Association, we take learning outside of the classroom.
  • We know that our scholars have to be well to achieve in school. We have a full-time school psychologist, a social worker, 3 clinical counselors, and a Dean of Students who makes sure scholar culture remains positive and nurturing for all.

  • We are College-Ready! All ESAT scholars complete the A-G requirements so that they can attend a C.S.U. or a college in the U.C. system.
  • We also offer AP courses in Chemistry – Physics – Biology – Spanish English Language – English Literature US History – World History – Government Computer Science – Environmental Science and Dual-Enrollment with Los Angeles Community College to earn a C++ Certificate or a General Education Transfer Curriculum.

Principal Profile

  • Talin Darkjian has spent over a decade working as an educator. She has been serving the Alliance Leichtman-Levine Community since 2019, when she joined as an Assistant Principal. Since then, she has advocated for diverse learners through expanding intervention courses and implementing the full inclusion model. She fosters a school environment that is culturally responsive, where each scholar’s social and emotional needs are met and every teacher and staff member is enabled to do their best in partnership with other teachers, staff, scholars and families.
  • Before joining Alliance, Ms. Darkjian worked as a history teacher then Interim Dean of Instruction and later as an Assistant Principal at PUC Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy in San Fernando, California. Prior to that she was an English teacher at Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C.
